- 93 roles have payments in the job title. Stripe has 27, Adyen 13, Tide 8, Coinbase 7, Affirm 6 and Checkout.com 6.
- 25 payments-titled roles in USD disclose pay, with an average advertised range of 155,150 to 203,824 dollars.
- Stripe has 776 active roles overall, 18.5% of the panel, so payments skill counts reflect one very large employer as well as the wider market.
How many fintech jobs involve payments?
Two measures matter here. The skills tag shows that 1,966 roles (47.0%) involve payments in some way, which includes engineering, product, sales, operations and risk roles at payments companies. The stricter title measure shows 93 roles where payments is part of the job title itself. The gap between the two is the point. Payments knowledge is a baseline expectation across a very large share of fintech roles, but dedicated payments job titles are a small group.
Which companies hire the most payments talent?
Stripe leads on both measures, with 27 payments-titled roles and the largest overall headcount in the panel. Adyen follows with 13 payments-titled roles, then Tide (8), Coinbase (7), Affirm (6) and Checkout.com (6). Across all roles, the largest employers by active openings are Stripe (776), Toast (337), Brex (263), Adyen (240), Coinbase (226), Affirm (218), Block (217), Checkout.com (171), Ramp (169) and Robinhood (155).
Because Stripe is so large, read skills shares with that in mind. See the full payments jobs listings and the employer directory.
What do payments jobs pay?
Pay disclosure is limited, with 1,491 of 4,187 roles (35.6%) stating a range. Among the 25 USD payments-titled roles that do, the average advertised range runs from about 155,150 to 203,824 dollars. That sits below the engineering median midpoint of 216,000 dollars (n=354) across the whole panel, but the two groups are not like for like. Treat the payments figure as indicative, since 25 roles is a small sample. For role-level ranges, use the salary benchmark.
Which payments roles are open?
Payments work shows up in every job family. Across the panel, engineering is 25.5% of roles (1,066), sales 21.8% (914), product and design 404, data and machine learning 399, and risk, compliance and legal 307. Because the payments skill is on nearly half of all roles, a candidate with payments knowledge is relevant to most of these teams. Compliance is the next most common skill at 1,086 roles, and fraud appears on 390 roles, which shows how closely payments hiring overlaps with risk work. Methodology and data notes
Figures come from the Finjobsly tracked employer panel, which held 4,187 active roles at 36 employers on 20 October 2026. Skill shares use the skills tags on each role, where one role can carry several, and title counts use keyword matching on job titles. Pay figures use only roles that state a range. The panel covers the employers we track and not the whole market, and Stripe alone is 18.5% of roles. Last updated: 20 October 2026. See the methodology page and the Fintech Hiring Index.
