What We Look For

· You have a total of 4+ years of experience as a software engineer.
· You are experienced in designing, developing, and launching backend systems at scale using Python, Kotlin, or similar backend languages, alongside technologies like AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
· You’ve had exposure to building web apps with declarative UI frameworks (e.g., React or Vue) and understand the core principles behind them.
· You have experience defining a technical plan for the delivery of a significant feature or system component with an elegant, simple and extensible design. You write high quality code that is easily understood and used by others.
· You are proficient at making significant changes in a large code base, and have developed a suite of tools and practices that enable you and your team to do so safely.

ESP base pay range per year: €86,000  -  €122,000

We are looking for a highly motivated Senior Software Engineer to join our Test Enablers team within Test Platform Engineering (Developer Productivity).

The Test Enablers team builds and operates the platforms that allow Affirm engineering teams to test with confidence. Our systems provide synthetic identities, test data seeding, mocking, deterministic testing workflows and load testing.

Developer Productivity’s mission is to dramatically accelerate software development at Affirm while keeping our systems reliable for customers. Our long-term north star is to scale to 1,000 PRs per day by December 2027. To reach that goal, Affirm needs validation systems that are fast, trustworthy, automated, and scalable.

This role is central to that effort.

You will design and build platform capabilities that help engineers validate product changes earlier, run safer load tests, reduce reliance on expensive E2E-only validation, and improve the reliability of CI signals. You will also help prepare Affirm’s testing infrastructure for AI-assisted development workflows, where agents and humans need deterministic, observable, and actionable validation feedback.

Affirm is growing fast, and we want you to help us scale our products and engineering systems 10x and beyond through world-class developer productivity infrastructure.



What You’ll Do

  • Design, build, and maintain scalable systems for synthetic identities, test data seeding, mocking, load testing, and deterministic validation workflows.
  • Help evolve Affirm’s testing strategy from broad E2E-heavy validation toward a more scalable model with stronger component, integration, contract, performance, and targeted E2E testing.
  • Build platform capabilities that make production-like load testing safer, more repeatable, and easier to operate.
  • Improve our test platform so it is reliable, observable, and easier for other teams to adopt.
  • Partner with product engineering and infrastructure teams to improve test signal quality, reduce false failures, and support faster validation loops.
  • Lead medium-to-large technical projects from ambiguous problem definition through design, implementation, rollout, and operational ownership.
  • Improve reliability and operational maturity through dashboards, SLOs, alerts, runbooks, and clear ownership models.
  • Reduce manual operational load for load testing, including test data creation, environment setup, reporting, and failure diagnosis.
  • Write high-quality, maintainable code that can be easily understood and extended by others.
  • Contribute to technical specs, RFCs, ADRs, project plans, and other async artifacts that align teams around technical decisions.
  • Review code and technical designs, provide constructive feedback, and help raise engineering standards.
  • Mentor engineers and help build a culture of practical testing excellence.

 

What We Look For

  • 5+ years of software engineering experience.
  • Strong backend engineering experience with Python, Kotlin, Java, or similar languages.
  • Experience designing, building, and operating distributed systems, platform infrastructure, internal developer tools, or testing infrastructure.
  • Strong ownership and ability to independently drive ambiguous technical work to completion.
  • Experience improving system reliability, observability, operational maturity, and maintainability.

We are looking for a highly motivated Senior Software Engineer to join our Test Enablers team within Test Platform Engineering (Developer Productivity).

The Test Enablers team builds and operates the platforms that allow Affirm engineering teams to test with confidence. Our systems provide synthetic identities, test data seeding, mocking, deterministic testing workflows and load testing.

Developer Productivity’s mission is to dramatically accelerate software development at Affirm while keeping our systems reliable for customers. Our long-term north star is to scale to 1,000 PRs per day by December 2027. To reach that goal, Affirm needs validation systems that are fast, trustworthy, automated, and scalable.

This role is central to that effort.

You will design and build platform capabilities that help engineers validate product changes earlier, run safer load tests, reduce reliance on expensive E2E-only validation, and improve the reliability of CI signals. You will also help prepare Affirm’s testing infrastructure for AI-assisted development workflows, where agents and humans need deterministic, observable, and actionable validation feedback.

What You’ll Do

  • Design, build, and maintain scalable systems for synthetic identities, test data seeding, mocking, load testing, and deterministic validation workflows.
  • Help evolve Affirm’s testing strategy from broad E2E-heavy validation toward a more scalable model with stronger component, integration, contract, performance, and targeted E2E testing.
  • Build platform capabilities that make production-like load testing safer, more repeatable, and easier to operate.
  • Improve our test platform so it is reliable, observable, and easier for other teams to adopt.
  • Partner with product engineering and infrastructure teams to improve test signal quality, reduce false failures, and support faster validation loops.
  • Lead medium-to-large technical projects from ambiguous problem definition through design, implementation, rollout, and operational ownership.
  • Improve reliability and operational maturity through dashboards, SLOs, alerts, runbooks, and clear ownership models.
  • Reduce manual operational load for load testing, including test data creation, environment setup, reporting, and failure diagnosis.
  • Write high-quality, maintainable code that can be easily understood and extended by others.
  • Contribute to technical specs, RFCs, ADRs, project plans, and other async artifacts that align teams around technical decisions.
  • Review code and technical designs, provide constructive feedback, and help raise engineering standards.
  • Mentor engineers and help build a culture of practical testing excellence.

 

What We Look For

  • 5+ years of software engineering experience.
  • Strong backend engineering experience with Python, Kotlin, Java, or similar languages.
  • Experience designing, building, and operating distributed systems, platform infrastructure, internal developer tools, or testing infrastructure.
  • Strong ownership and ability to independently drive ambiguous technical work to completion.
  • Experience improving system reliability, observability, operational maturity, and maintainability.
  • Ability to collaborate across engineering teams and influence technical direction through clear communication.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including async artifacts such as technical specs, RFCs, ADRs, and project plans.
  • Strong engineering fundamentals across system design, testing, debugging, reliability, and production operations.
  • Operational ownership of critical internal testing platforms, including reliability, observability, alerting, runbooks, and incident readiness.
  • Experience with test automation frameworks, test data systems, mocks, contract testing, integration testing, load testing and CI/CD platforms.

The Privacy Compliance team sits within the second line of defense and is responsible for the independent oversight and governance of Affirm's privacy compliance program. About the Role: 

The Compliance Manager, Privacy operates within the second line of defense and is responsible for oversight and governance of the Privacy compliance program. This role translates legal and regulatory requirements into policies, standards, and control expectations, and provides independent monitoring and challenge to support effective implementation by first-line teams.

In alignment with the company’s privacy operating model, Legal retains responsibility for regulatory interpretation and legal advisory, while Product, Engineering, and Operations own the implementation and execution of controls.   • Translate Legal guidance and regulatory requirements into policies, standards, and control expectations, ensuring clear articulation of compliance requirements for first-line teams.
  • Provide oversight and maintain existing governance frameworks and standards for core privacy program areas, including:
    • Data subject rights (DSAR) processes and SLAs
    • Data protection impact assessment (DPIA) governance and documentation standards

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Compliance Manager. As a Senior Compliance Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing compliance with the FCA and managing issues related to Financial Crime and AML within the organisation. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of FCA and other servicing regulations, exceptional analytical skills, and a proven track record in developing and implementing effective compliance programs.

What you'll do

  • Serve as the designated Money Laundering Reporting Officer (SMF17) for the UK entity, subject to final organisational and regulatory approvals.
  • Provide second-line oversight of the UK financial crimes compliance program, including AML, sanctions, suspicious activity governance, and related control frameworks.
  • Oversee suspicious activity escalation, internal referral, and reporting governance for the UK entity, including review and escalation of matters requiring MLRO judgment.
  • Support the design, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the UK AML and financial crimes framework, ensuring alignment to applicable FCA and UK regulatory expectations.
  • Lead the development of the firm's Financial Crime Compliance Monitoring Programme (CMP) ensuring its suitability is aligned to the risk appetite of the firm, the regulatory landscape and the market within which the UK entity operates. 
  • Lead and execute the UK entity's Business wide compliance risk assessment (BWRA) and control inventory, by identifying financial crimes risks, control gaps, regulatory developments, and governance priorities. including collecting and documenting results, establishing where opportunities exist and work with internal and external partners to deliver.  
  • Partner with UK Compliance and global Financial Crimes leaders to maintain a clear and effective UK control environment across onboarding, transaction monitoring, investigations, screening, and related financial crimes processes.
  • Oversee or coordinate UK financial crimes issue management, including identification of issues, remediation tracking, escalation, and closure governance.
  • Lead preparation of the firm's annual MLRO report for senior management and the Board of Directors, detailing the control effectiveness of anti money laundering systems and controls, including details on Suspicious Activity reports (SAR’s), fraud, training provision, risk exposure and regulatory position.  
  • Support internal audit, external audit, regulatory examinations, and bank partner reviews relevant to UK financial crimes compliance, including preparation of materials, coordination of responses, and remediation tracking.
  • Maintain and enhance UK financial crimes policies, procedures, standards, and governance documentation in coordination with broader Compliance and Financial Crimes partners.
  • Prepare recurring management reporting, governance materials, and escalation summaries for the UK Compliance Director and other senior stakeholders.
  • Partner with Legal on regulatory interpretation and with first-line stakeholders on implementation, while maintaining second-line independence and effective challenge.
  • Support regulator-facing readiness and contribute to interactions with UK regulators and other relevant external stakeholders, as appropriate.
  • Showcase Compliance as an open for business function, accessible and relatable to the goals and objectives of the firm. 
  • Work and collaborate with the Global Financial Crime Compliance Governance Team to build out and execute the Global Financial Crime Framework

Base Pay Grade - N

Equity Grade - 6

Employees new to Affirm typically come in at the start of the pay range. Affirm focuses on providing a simple and transparent pay structure which is based on a variety of factors, including location, experience and job-related skills. 

Base pay is part of a total compensation package that may include monthly stipends for health, wellness and tech spending, and benefits (including 100% subsidised medical coverage, dental and vision for you and your dependents). In addition, the employees may be eligible for equity rewards offered by Affirm Holdings, Inc. (parent company).

GBR base pay range per year: £120,000 - £168,000
