Fintech Compliance Hiring: Where the Demand Actually Sits

Compliance is the second most common skill in fintech job ads. It is tagged on 1,086 of the 4,187 active roles tracked by Finjobsly, about 25.9%, as of 20 October 2026, and 144 roles carry a compliance, AML, KYC, financial crime or regulatory job title. This guide shows where the demand sits, which employers are hiring and what the roles pay.

Key findings

  • Compliance appears as a skill on 1,086 of 4,187 active roles (about 25.9%), second only to Payments (1,966 roles, 47.0%) and ahead of Go (980), Python (700) and SQL (611).
  • 144 roles have a compliance, AML, KYC, financial crime or regulatory title. Adyen, Coinbase and Stripe each have 13, Block 12, Qonto 10, Kraken 7, Nubank 7 and Robinhood 6.
  • Risk management is tagged on 281 roles and legal titles account for 103 roles.
  • Risk, compliance and legal titles together are 307 roles, 7.3% of the panel.

How many fintech compliance jobs are there?

There are two honest answers, and they differ by an order of magnitude. By skills tag, 1,086 roles (about 25.9%) involve compliance, which includes engineers building controls, product managers shipping regulated features and sales staff who sell to compliance teams. By job title, 144 roles are compliance, AML, KYC, financial crime or regulatory positions. Anyone planning a career should look at the second number, and anyone assessing the market should know that compliance knowledge is a requirement across a quarter of all roles.

Which employers hire the most compliance staff?

Three employers lead the title count with 13 roles each. Those are Adyen, Coinbase and Stripe. Block follows with 12, then Qonto with 10, and Kraken and Nubank with 7 each. Robinhood has 6. Crypto exchanges and global payments companies dominate, which reflects the licensing burden of operating across many jurisdictions. Stripe is also the largest employer in the panel with 776 roles, so its place on the list partly reflects size. See the employer directory for profiles.

Is compliance hiring growing?

We cannot say from this data. Finjobsly began tracking employers in July 2026, so any comparison with earlier months would measure scraper onboarding rather than hiring. What the snapshot shows is the current level of demand, which is large. What do fintech compliance jobs pay?

Among US roles that state pay, the median midpoint for risk, compliance and legal roles is 184,800 dollars (n=85). That compares with 216,000 dollars for engineering (n=354), 225,000 for product and design (n=137), 215,000 for data and machine learning (n=128) and 194,306 for sales and go-to-market (n=145). Only 1,491 of 4,187 roles (35.6%) disclose pay, so treat these as indicative. Use the salary benchmark for role-level ranges.

What skills do compliance employers ask for?

Compliance sits next to fraud (390 roles), risk management (281), stakeholder management (269) and negotiation (215) in the skills tags, which shows the profile employers want. They look for people who can apply regulation, work with product and engineering teams, and make a call under uncertainty. Check each listing for any required qualification or prior experience.

Methodology and data notes

Figures come from the Finjobsly tracked employer panel, which held 4,187 active roles at 36 employers on 20 October 2026. Skill shares use skills tags, where one role can carry several. Title counts use keyword matching on job titles and may include or miss edge cases. Pay medians use US roles that state a range, with the sample size shown. The panel covers the employers we track and not the whole market. Last updated: 20 October 2026. See the methodology page and browse fintech jobs.
