Senior Software Engineer, Data GovernanceNew
About the Role
The Data Governance function is pivotal in ensuring the integrity, trustworthiness, and effective management of Chime’s data assets. Our mission is to establish and operationalize data governance frameworks that not only meet compliance requirements, but actively enable high-confidence decision making across the company. As a Data Governance Engineer, you will develop and implement policies and tools for data quality, developer enablement, certified datasets, and governance automation - with a sharp focus on building trust signals and scorecards that help data consumers quickly understand and act on the reliability of Chime's data.
This is a hands-on engineering role. You will write production-quality code to build automation for governance and data quality processes using Terraform, Python (or similar languages), and contribute to internal libraries, frameworks, and orchestration workflows that enable scalable governance.
You will partner closely with data engineering, analytics, product engineering, and compliance teams to:
- Support Chime in data compliance and risk reduction initiatives
- Establish data quality as a product discipline
- Build trust signals and scorecards that make data reliability transparent and data context valuable for a variety of use cases
- Implement governance workflows upstream, where data are created
- Ensure data context and metadata are sufficient for downstream use cases, including AI applications
You will be involved in reviews of technical designs and implementation plans to provide guidance on appropriate development from a data governance and compliance perspective, acting as a trusted advisor to teams innovating at Chime. You will also be a strong advocate and leader for Artificial Intelligence tooling and adoption at Chime, bringing curiosity and a practical eye for where AI creates leverage in data governance workflows. This role is 40% strategic influence, 40% development and building, and 20% stakeholder management and support.
The base salary for this role and level of experience will begin at $160,000.00 and go up to $221,000.00. Full-time employees are also eligible for a bonus, competitive equity package, and benefits. The actual base salary offered may be higher, depending on your location, skills, qualifications, and experience.
In this role, you can expect to
- Build Data Trust Infrastructure: Design and implement trust scorecards, trust signals, and quality indicators that give data consumers real-time visibility into data reliability - and partner with producers upstream to embed quality checks at the source before issues propagate downstream.
- Drive Data Quality Strategy: Own and evolve Chime's data quality strategy end-to-end. Design and partner with engineering teams to implement data quality frameworks and monitoring systems that proactively identify, surface, and resolve data issues at scale.
- Develop and Implement Data Governance Policies: Create and enforce policies for data classification, quality, and lifecycle management, ensuring data integrity and compliance with SOX and other applicable regulatory standards.
- Enable the Data Catalog: Collaborate on the development, adoption, and enrichment of Chime's data catalog - improving discoverability, context richness (lineage, ownership, definitions, usage guidance), and the overall experience of working with Chime's data.
- Automate Governance Processes: Develop and deploy automation solutions for data governance tasks, such as metadata management, data lineage tracking, access controls, and quality remediation workflows.
- Champion SOX Compliance: Play an active role in Chime's SOX compliance efforts, ensuring that data governance practices, controls, and audit trails meet regulatory requirements and are well-documented.
- Lead AI Adoption for Data Governance: Serve as a leader and advocate for AI tooling within the data governance space - identifying opportunities to apply AI to automate governance workflows, improve data context, enhance trust scoring, and accelerate adoption of governance best practices across engineering teams.
- Collaborate Across Teams: Work closely with data engineers, analysts, and compliance officers to align data governance initiatives with business needs and regulatory requirements.
To thrive in this role, you have
- Experience: 5+ years in data engineering, data governance, or a related field, with hands-on experience in data classification, cataloging, quality assurance, and trust frameworks. Engineering ability to design and implement data governance and quality processes is critical to success.
- Trust & Quality Expertise: Demonstrated experience building data trust signals, quality scorecards, or similar frameworks that make data reliability visible and actionable for both engineers and non-technical stakeholders.
- Programming Experience: Proficiency in Python or a comparable programming language, and experience building scalable data tooling or automation pipelines.
- Curiosity and Relentlessness: You are genuinely curious about data, technology, and the problems that sit at the intersection of the two. You don't let ambiguity stop you - you dig in, ask the right questions, and keep pushing until you've found the right answer or built the right solution. You bring energy and persistence to hard problems and don't need external pressure to drive yourself forward.
- Composure in Complexity: Data governance at a fintech means navigating competing priorities, regulatory constraints, sprawling data ecosystems, and stakeholders with different mental models of "good." You thrive in this environment rather than shrinking from it - you can hold complexity without getting overwhelmed, break it into manageable pieces, and make steady progress without waiting for perfect conditions.
- Exceptional Communication: You are a terrific communicator in both verbal and written form. You can write a crisp one-pager that earns buy-in from a skeptical audience, run a meeting that ends with clarity instead of confusion, and translate deeply technical concepts into plain language that moves people to action. You treat communication as a core part of the job, not an afterthought.
- Product Management Mindset: You think like a product manager as much as an engineer. You ask "who is this for and what problem does it solve?" before writing a line of code. You prioritize ruthlessly, define success before you start building, and care about adoption and outcomes - not just delivery. You treat your internal stakeholders as customers and design solutions with their experience in mind.
- AI Curiosity and Advocacy: Genuine curiosity about AI and its applications in the data governance space, with an appetite for identifying and piloting new tools and workflows that improve the experience of working with Chime's data.
- Technical Proficiency: Strong knowledge of data governance tools and platforms, and experience with cloud data warehouses like Snowflake. Experience with data catalog platforms and driving adoption across engineering organizations is a strong plus.
- Bonus: Compliance Knowledge: Familiarity with SOX, CCPA, and other data privacy and financial regulations, and ability to apply technical skills to governance practices that meet audit and compliance requirements.

Payments Partnership Manager, AustraliaNew
Since we opened our doors in 2009, the world of commerce has evolved immensely, and so has Square. After enabling anyone to take payments and never miss a sale, we saw sellers stymied by disparate, outmoded products and tools that wouldn’t work together.
So we expanded into software and started building integrated, omnichannel solutions – to help sellers sell online, manage inventory, offer buy now, pay later functionality, book appointments, engage loyal buyers, and hire and pay staff. Across it all, we’ve embedded financial services tools at the point of sale, so merchants can access a business loan and manage their cash flow in one place. Afterpay furthers our goal to provide omnichannel tools that unlock meaningful value and growth, enabling sellers to capture the next generation shopper, increase order sizes, and compete at a larger scale.
Today, we are a partner to sellers of all sizes – large, enterprise-scale businesses with complex operations, sellers just starting, as well as merchants who began selling with Square and have grown larger over time. As our sellers grow, so do our solutions. There is a massive opportunity in front of us. We’re building a significant, meaningful, and lasting business, and we are helping sellers worldwide do the same.
The Role
Block must operate against a complex backdrop of industry partners to encourage flexibility, new standards, and openness to Square and Afterpay’s innovation, products and services. The Financial Operations team plays an integral role in crafting a diverse spectrum of solutions and capabilities for our customers, overseeing foundational industry and regulatory relationships and also the daily operations for incoming and outgoing payments.
As an Individual Contributor in the Payments Partnership Manager role, you will help support the financial infrastructure, operational processes, and partner relationships that enable our products to scale reliably and efficiently across the region. You will bring a strong track record of cross functional collaboration, operational excellence, and stakeholder management, working closely with teams across Finance, Product, Marketing, Engineering, Legal, Compliance, Risk, and Operations to support our regional growth strategy.
You Will
- Build and manage strategic relationships with payment industry partners, including acquirers, banks, card networks, payment providers, and industry bodies across Australia and New Zealand.
- Define and execute a comprehensive payments and financial operations strategy for the partners you manage, supporting Square and Afterpay in a rapidly evolving payments and digital commerce landscape.
- Oversee, negotiate, and develop partnership opportunities and commercial discussions that enable and scale our financial capabilities across Australia and New Zealand.
- Understand Square and Afterpay’s competitive position in the region, and implement programs that strengthen our payments products, services, operational capabilities, and strategic goals.
- Lead key strategic industry and partner initiatives across Australia and New Zealand, including the partner engagement required to support new products, platforms, and market opportunities.
- Maximize the value of current partnerships through proactive account management, working with key partners, suppliers, and industry associations to define, iterate, and enable new products and capabilities across the region.
- Collaborate closely with functional and cross-functional partners across Finance, Marketing, Product, Engineering, Legal, Compliance, Risk, and Operations, while influencing teams and stakeholders to improve overall effectiveness and support career development where applicable.
You Have
- 10+ years of experience in financial technology, payments, banking, card networks, acquiring, issuing, or a related financial services environment, with demonstrated depth in payment operations and strong commercial experience in partner management and contract negotiations.
- Deep understanding of the payments ecosystem, including card networks, acquirers, issuers, payment processors, banks, schemes, regulators, and industry bodies, and how these relationships enable scalable, reliable, and compliant electronic payments.
- Proven ability to build, manage, and grow senior strategic relationships with external partners, financial institutions, and industry stakeholders across complex and highly regulated markets.
- Strong commercial judgment, including experience negotiating agreements, managing partner performance, identifying partnership opportunities, and balancing cost, risk, compliance, customer experience, and product outcomes.
- Comfortable moving between the roles of relationship manager, program manager, commercial negotiator, and analytical problem solver, including interpreting payment network rules, assessing contract changes, reviewing operational impacts, and working directly with banks, networks, and payment partners.
- Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in ambiguity, think strategically and analytically about business, product, operational, and technical challenges, and translate complexity into actionable plans.
- Ability to identify emerging trends, regulatory developments, network changes, and market opportunities across Australia and New Zealand, and translate them into recommendations that support product innovation and business growth.
- Strong ownership mindset, with the ability to drive outcomes independently, manage multiple priorities, and deliver results in a fast-moving, global environment.
- Experience supporting product launches, market expansion, new payment capabilities, or operational transformation initiatives in partnership with regional and global teams.

This role will be based in our SF office. We are a hybrid environment that combines the energy and connections of being in the office with the benefits and flexibility of working from home. We currently require a minimum of three coordinated days in the office per week, Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. As a perk, we also have up to four weeks per year of fully remote work!
Responsibilities
- Own and grow a focused book of West Coast PE relationships across SF and LA. Be consistently in-market (dinners, coffees, industry events, and executive engagements) to build the trust that comes from value-added touch points.
- Conduct introductory and qualification calls with PE firms, their portfolio companies, and active referrals to advance relationships and drive referral pipeline.
- Proactively generate new pipeline through outbound prospecting into West Coast PE firms and portfolio companies.
- Build and maintain a prioritized target list of West Coast firms and PE-backed companies using research, data tools, and internal inputs while tracking pipeline metrics and referral conversion through CRM.
- Collaborate with account executives to ensure timely follow-up on PE-sourced opportunities and support deal progression through close.
- Help produce marketing and engagement materials, run analysis on target firms and portfolios, support case study development for larger channel leverage, and oversee meeting agendas, partner summaries and talk tracks.
- Coordinate with Partner Marketing on event logistics, field events, and conferences targeting the West Coast PE ecosystem.
- Communicate partner insights, needs, and feedback internally to influence channel strategy and prioritization.
- Maintain clean and enriched CRM records across your book, including firm profiles, portfolio company contacts, and Brex relationship status.
- Support internal reporting, executive updates, and quarterly business reviews on West Coast channel performance.
- Analyze leading indicators such as meetings sourced, firms advanced to active-referring status, and referral conversion rates.
Requirements
- 3-6 years of experience in PE business development, sourcing, partnerships, or a related quota-carrying, relationship-driven role with exposure to the private equity ecosystem
- Established credibility in the private equity ecosystem; able to hold a room with partners and portfolio company executives from day one.
- Track record of success in outbound relationship development. Comfortable with high-volume, highly personalized outreach and motivated by pipeline-generation goals.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail; able to manage multiple active firm relationships and workstreams simultaneously.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to present clearly to internal stakeholders and senior external counterparts.

And we get to do the best work of our career and grow our skills surrounded by colleagues who have our backs.
If you’re ready to see your impact and unlock incredible career growth opportunities, join us, and build real world value.
THE WORK:
As a Staff Security Engineer on the Security Operations team, you will help Ripple detect, investigate, and respond to security threats across our environment. You'll work across detection and data engineering, incident response, and security automation — building the tooling and detection logic that lets the team scale. You'll operate independently on sophisticated investigations and detection initiatives, and you'll be a technical reference point for less senior engineers on the team.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
- Design, build, and tune detections across our security stack (Google Security Operations) to improve our ability to identify and mitigate threats.
- Lead incident response for the most complex and high-severity investigations, from initial triage through root cause and remediation.
- Build and maintain security automation workflows (e.g., in Tines) that reduce manual toil in detection, triage, and response.
- Own and improve SIEM/data pipeline health, including log source coverage, parsing/normalization, and alert quality.
- Develop cross-functional relationships to influence security initiatives and drive adoption of security tooling.
- Maintain awareness of the evolving threat landscape and translate that awareness into concrete improvements to our detection coverage and response playbooks.
- Use AI tools as more than a chatbot — agentic coding tools like Claude Code or OpenAI Codex for detection engineering and automation work — while knowing when a given tool is (and isn't) the right fit, and verifying output before it ships.
- Participate in the design review process, giving and receiving constructive feedback to keep detection and automation projects on track — and break complex detection challenges into simple systems and repeatable processes other engineers can build and maintain.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING:
- 7+ years of experience in security operations, detection engineering, or incident response, with a track record of owning incident response and detection work end-to-end.
- Advanced knowledge of security principles, tools, and practices used in blue teaming operations, with advanced proficiency in at least one scripting language for tasks like response automation and using REST APIs to automate security operations work.
- Experience with SIEM platforms and security data pipelines (e.g., Google SecOps) — you understand log source onboarding, parsing, and alert tuning, not just querying.
- Hands-on experience with EDR, identity, email security, and network security tooling at a level where you can extend and tune the tooling, not just operate it.
- Ability to write clean technical specs, identify risks before starting major projects, and reason clearly about trade-offs between alternative approaches.
- Ability to break down complex projects into simple systems and repeatable processes that other engineers can build and maintain, and to seek and give constructive feedback in design review.
- Problem-solving skills to resolve ambiguous or high-pressure situations effectively and creatively, while maintaining flexibility, professionalism, and integrity.
- Understands and anticipates people's needs, skills, and abilities, to coach, motivate, and empower them for success.
