Fintech Hiring Trends 2026: What Finjobsly's Live Job Data Shows

Every fintech hiring headline this year has come from press releases and layoff trackers. Finjobsly's own job board offers a different vantage point: what employers are actually posting, right now, across the platform.

The headline numbers

As of 18 September 2026, Finjobsly tracked 3,114 active fintech vacancies across 33 employers. A note on what that figure is and is not: it covers our tracked employer panel, not the entire fintech market. It is a deep sample of large and mid-size fintech employers, not a census.

We are deliberately not publishing a month-over-month change here. Finjobsly's scraping coverage expanded sharply in July 2026, so posting volume before that date reflects how many employers we were tracking rather than how many jobs existed. Any "postings up X percent" figure drawn across that boundary would measure our own onboarding, not the market. Clean period-over-period comparisons become available later in 2026, and we will publish them when the underlying series supports it.

Where the jobs actually sit

Counting by job title, engineering roles (software engineer, backend, frontend, full-stack, developer, SRE, DevOps and platform titles) account for 567 of the 3,114 active vacancies, or 18.2 percent. Sales and business development titles account for 585, or 18.8 percent, making go-to-market hiring very close in volume to engineering. Operations and support titles account for 234, data and AI titles 157, product 140, marketing 140, and compliance and risk titles 106.

Function counts depend on how you classify a title, so the method matters. These figures come from title matching, stated here so the numbers can be checked. Employer-supplied department fields are not usable for this: they arrive as raw ATS strings like "All Departments" and "20213 S&M - Sales - Square Outside", which is why we classify on titles instead.

Seniority skews senior

This is the clearest signal in the data. Of 3,072 roles with a seniority level attached, 1,367 are Senior and 428 are Staff, against 176 Junior and 67 Internship. Senior and Staff roles outnumber junior and internship roles by more than seven to one.

For anyone entering the industry, that ratio is the number worth internalising. The openings exist, but they are concentrated well above entry level.

Remote is still the default where it is stated

Of the 2,194 active roles that specify a work arrangement, 1,255 are fully remote, 724 hybrid and 215 strictly onsite. Remote accounts for 57 percent of roles that say. The remaining 920 roles do not specify, so treat this as a split among employers willing to state a policy rather than a figure for the whole panel.

Who is actually hiring

Stripe alone accounts for 618 of the 3,114 active roles, 19.8 percent of the panel and more than the next two employers combined. Toast (275), Brex (234), Block (201), Coinbase (198) and Affirm (193) round out the top six.

That concentration is worth keeping in mind when reading any percentage on this page. With one employer at nearly a fifth of the sample, a skill or location that is common at Stripe will look like an industry pattern. See the full employer ranking for the complete list.

Pay transparency is still a minority practice

Only 38.7 percent of active postings disclose a salary range. That figure is itself skewed upward by US pay-transparency laws, so the true willingness of employers to publish pay without a legal requirement is lower still.

What this means if you are job hunting

Two things follow from the numbers above. The seniority skew means mid-career candidates face the widest set of live options, while entry-level candidates should target the specific employers running graduate pipelines rather than applying broadly. And with six employers accounting for roughly half the board, a focused application strategy aimed at those teams will cover more ground than volume applying.
