Manager, SMB Account ManagementNew
Since we opened our doors in 2009, the world of commerce has evolved immensely, and so has Square. After enabling anyone to take payments and never miss a sale, we saw sellers stymied by disparate, outmoded products and tools that wouldn’t work together.
So we expanded into software and started building integrated, omnichannel solutions – to help sellers sell online, manage inventory, offer buy now, pay later functionality, book appointments, engage loyal buyers, and hire and pay staff. Across it all, we’ve embedded financial services tools at the point of sale, so merchants can access a business loan and manage their cash flow in one place. Afterpay furthers our goal to provide omnichannel tools that unlock meaningful value and growth, enabling sellers to capture the next generation shopper, increase order sizes, and compete at a larger scale.
Today, we are a partner to sellers of all sizes – large, enterprise-scale businesses with complex operations, sellers just starting, as well as merchants who began selling with Square and have grown larger over time. As our sellers grow, so do our solutions. There is a massive opportunity in front of us. We’re building a significant, meaningful, and lasting business, and we are helping sellers worldwide do the same.
The Role
The Account Management organization is seeking a results-driven and people-focused leader to manage a team of SMB Account Managers. In this role, you will lead growth and retention efforts across a portfolio of Square’s SMB merchants, ensuring your team delivers consistent, high-quality customer engagement and measurable business outcomes. You will report directly to the Head of Account Management for APAC.
As a team leader, you will oversee a high-performing group of 8-10 Account Managers, driving results in revenue expansion, software adoption, and churn reduction. You’ll foster a data-driven, mission-aligned culture while prioritizing coaching and team development.
This is a cross-functional role where you will partner closely with Product, Operations, and Sales to ensure strong execution, share merchant feedback, and support our mission of Economic Empowerment.
Preferred locations: Sydney or Melbourne, Australia
You Will
- Build and develop a high-performing team: lead 8–10 Account Managers focused on growth and retention for SMB merchants, with a strong emphasis on coaching, development, and career growth for your team members.

- Establish clear performance expectations and accountability through structured 1:1s, deal reviews, and team cadences.
- Partner cross-functionally to surface merchant insights, resolve escalations, and improve the overall customer experience.
- Support leadership in executing team OKRs and implementing program improvements.
- Level up the whole team. Spot enablement opportunities and share best practices that raise the bar across the group.
- Serve as a senior escalation point for complex or high-impact merchant situations.
- Travel approximately once per quarter for team events or customer meetings.
You Have
- 8+ years of experience in Account Management, Sales, Business Development, or Marketing.
- 3-5 years of direct people management experience in a quota-carrying or performance-driven environment.
- A track record of consistently exceeding revenue and retention goals.
- Experience working with SMB or Mid-Market businesses.
- A track record of consistently exceeding revenue and retention goals.
- Strong coaching skills with demonstrated ability to improve performance across a team.
- Experience working cross-functionally to resolve issues and improve processes.

All full-time employees receive competitive base pay, benefits, and equity (RSUs) — because everyone who helps build Gusto should share in its success. Offer amounts are determined by role, level, and location. Learn more about our Total Rewards philosophy.
AI is a fundamental part of how work gets done at Gusto. We expect all team members to actively engage with AI tools relevant to their role and grow their fluency as the technology evolves. AI experience requirements vary by role and will be assessed during the interview process.
About the Role:
Your role will be to help small business customers choose Gusto. Interacting with customers who sign up on our website via email, chat, and live phone interactions, you’ll help match our people platform offering to their specific business needs, exercising advisory sales skills. You’ll help them navigate an important onboarding process, demonstrating sophisticated customer success skills.
Our team of over a hundred sales professionals includes folks practices across all channels and with different types of customers, but we all share deep passion and commitment to solutions selling: our company exists to solve problems for small businesses, and our sales team is a vital front door for small businesses who need and love our solutions. We have communal goals, a team spirit, and company leadership that cares about selling the right way.
Here’s what you’ll do day-to-day:
- Manage Inbound Volume: Handle high volume & high velocity inbound calls, chats and emails to customers at different points in the customer journey: discovery, qualification, sales, decision and onboarding
- Keep Clean Records: Maintain accurate notes in Salesforce for all leads worked
- Be a Trusted Advisor: Help customers select Gusto as a payroll platform
- Support Onboarding: Guide customers through account setup and initial onboarding
- Exhibit Customer Empathy: Demonstrate product knowledge and care for every customer interaction
- Master Advisory Selling: Exercise and refine solutions selling skills for small businesses
- Grow at Gusto: Participate in community and career development opportunities
- Use AI-powered workflows as a core part of how you sell: running assigned tools daily, surfacing friction and inefficiencies as you find them, and collaborating with your team to influence what gets built or improved next
Here’s what we're looking for:
- Sales Experience: 1+ year in a high volume sales or customer service environment where you were cross selling, up selling, or maintaining a quota or KPIs is a nice to have, not a requirement
- Open to New Grads: No sales background needed. We welcome candidates who are early in their career or looking to build a long-term path in sales
- Customer-First Mindset: A commitment to customer empathy and ethical business practices
- Drive to Excel: Passion to achieve goals and improve your craft
- Strong Communicator: Excellent communication skills both via phone and email/chat
- Adaptable & Driven: Motivated by challenge and adaptable to change
- AI: Proven, day-to-day experience integrating AI into how you work — across writing, research, prep, and summarization as a core part of your workflow, with a track record of giving clear, useful feedback that helps improve your tools and processes

Senior Software Engineer, Affirm BankNew
Affirm is reinventing credit to make it more honest and friendly, giving consumers the flexibility to buy now and pay later without any hidden fees or compounding interest.
About the Role
Affirm is building its own bank — and this role sits in the engineering team that runs it. We're looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join a deliberately small, AI-native team that owns the systems behind Affirm's bank: vendor-integrated banking infrastructure, durable workflows, data platform, and the operational tooling that holds it all together. You'll work alongside other senior engineers, with direct exposure to senior bank and Affirm leadership, to launch the bank's deposit product, drive loan originations through the bank entity, and bring card issuing online in time.
This is a rare opportunity to shape a new business from its very first systems — a startup-like build inside an established company. You'll be one of the first engineers on Affirm's bank, moving with the speed, autonomy, and ownership of an early-stage team while leveraging Affirm's brand, distribution, and consumer reach. The team is small and AI-native, the surface area is broad, and the work meaningfully matters — every system you ship serves real customers under a real bank charter. The systems you build and the standards you set will directly determine what the bank becomes.
What You'll Do
- Own bank systems end-to-end. Design, build, integrate, operate, and own incident response for the bank's core technical surfaces: cloud infrastructure, data platform, durable workflow orchestration, core banking configuration, CI/CD, networking, and the Bank ↔ Affirm Inc integration. Generalist breadth is expected.
- Be a force multiplier on a small team. Set and improve code review and design standards, lift the bar on examiner-readable documentation, and make the team you join more effective than the team you found. Every Senior IC on this team has outsized influence on what gets built and how.
- Ship AI-first. Lean on AI tools and agentic workflows as a multiplier for code, design review, runbook generation, and operations. Push yourself and your teammates on what an AI-leveraged team can deliver.
- Own vendor relationships. Carry one or more of the bank's third-party vendor relationships end-to-end — integration, operations, escalation, and audit. The bank's tech stack is intentionally vendor-leveraged, and ownership of those relationships is an engineering responsibility.
- Build for examiners. Partner with Legal, Compliance, Risk, and Internal Audit to factor in compliance from day one. Write decisions, designs, and runbooks to a standard that holds up under examiner and audit review.
- Own the operational posture of your work. Set up monitoring, alerting, runbooks, and the practices that keep the bank's systems reliable, observable, and audit-ready. The bank operates with a small operational footprint by design — help keep it that way.
- Influence beyond the team. Communicate technical strategy, tradeoffs, and constraints clearly to non-engineering stakeholders (bank executives, Compliance, Risk), and engineers outside the bank. The bank doesn't operate in isolation, and the relationships you build with non-bank engineers shape how cleanly the integration boundary works.
- Help grow talent as the team grows. As new engineers join over time, they'll join an engineering function whose practices and standards you helped establish. Provide feedback, mentor peers, and lead by example.
What We Look For
- 6+ years of software engineering experience, with senior-strong, hands-on builder credentials and a track record of taking ownership end-to-end through launch and operations
- Comfortable in ambiguity — you move fast, ask hard questions, and take ownership before being asked, while balancing speed with engineering judgment
- Bias toward simplicity — experience operating in or building toward a small, lean engineering culture where the engineering bar is high and the surface area is kept intentionally tight
- Hungry to leverage AI to drive outcomes — fluent with AI-assisted development tools (Claude, Cursor, Codex, agentic workflows) and actively pushing yourself and your team to use them as a multiplier for code quality, velocity, and what a deliberately small team can ship
- Strong systems thinking across public cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred), infrastructure-as-code (Terraform), and cloud data platforms (Snowflake or comparable)
- Regulated-environment experience — direct work in banking, payments, securities, healthcare, or another setting subject to external examination, where the work involves examiner-facing documentation and decisions
- Comfortable as the technical face of your work to non-engineering stakeholders — Compliance, Risk, Finance, outside counsel, and examiners — and able to document decisions so they hold up under audit review
- Exceptional written and verbal communication — you can distill complex technical, regulatory, and operational concepts into clear narratives for executives and non-engineering audiences
Nice to have
- Prior work inside a bank, neobank, Banking-as-a-Service provider, card issuer/processor, or fintech with a chartered bank subsidiary
- Direct experience with a de novo bank launch, an early-stage bank buildout, or a greenfield regulated platform
- Hands-on experience with a bank core, card processing / issuer processor integration, or digital bank experience integration
- Hands-on experience standing up a greenfield cloud organization — fresh cloud org, IAM model, and data platform — under a tight security posture
- Familiarity with the regulatory framework that shapes the work: FDIC examinations, GLBA / Reg P (affiliate data sharing), BSA/AML, Reg E, Reg DD, Reg Z, model risk, and third-party risk management
Benefits
- 100% employer-subsidized medical, dental, and vision coverage for employees and dependents
- Flexible spending wallets for technology, food, lifestyle, and family formation
- Competitive vacation and holiday schedules
- Employee Stock Purchase Plan
Base Pay Grade - N
Equity Grade - USA 9
