Success in this role comes from exceptional judgment, intellectual curiosity, influence, and the ability to simplify complexity. We're looking for someone who enjoys building, thrives in ambiguous environments, and believes Enterprise Risk should create value for the business - not simply operate governance processes.

- Translate enterprise strategy into clear risk appetite, practical operating guardrails, and decision-useful executive reporting.

- Foster a culture of sound judgment, curiosity, business partnership, and thoughtful execution.
- Build a team that is known for pragmatic problem solving, trusted partnership, and effective challenge.
What We Look For
- 12+ years of experience in a regulated or risk-intensive environment such as fintech, financial services, or technology.
- Experience leading business transformation, strategy, product risk, operations, governance, Chief of Staff, Enterprise Risk, or similar cross-functional initiatives
- Exceptional business judgment with the ability to simplify complex problems and influence senior leaders.
- Proven ability to build trust, challenge constructively, and drive alignment without formal authority or operating as a control function.
- Comfortable navigating ambiguity, building new capabilities, and partnering closely with Product, Engineering, and other business-facing teams

Millions of companies—from the world’s largest enterprises to the most ambitious startups—use Stripe to accept payments, grow their revenue, and accelerate new business opportunities. Our mission is to increase the GDP of the internet, and we have a staggering amount of work ahead. That means you have an unprecedented opportunity to put the global economy within everyone’s reach while doing the most important work of your career.
About the team
The Payments organization owns some of Stripe’s most critical payment flows and a platform that processes hundreds of billions of dollars in payments a year. Our team builds and scales the infrastructure and financial partner integrations that enables Stripe to accept, manage, and payout money across many countries, currencies, and payment methods.
Our work is core to Stripe’s business, and thousands of developers use our platform and infrastructure to create valuable products and services that billions of people use. Our goal is to increase the GDP of the internet by making it easy to build global products, services, and platforms that handle money.
Technical Operations roles in Payments are a dynamic and key component of Stripe's success. Focused on financial partner integrations and funds flow expansion, we sit at the intersection of product/platform engineers and financial partners, connecting them to ensure that everyone thrives and nothing is lost in translation.
Our team partners closely with various finance and infrastructure engineering teams to ensure timely delivery of accurate data between financial partners, internal stakeholders, and Stripe leaders. We report and trace all of Stripe’s money movement transactions, including payments in more than 30 currencies and dozens of countries. You’ll own building and scaling Stripe’s manual and programmatic financial reporting and reconciliation processes for intra-company and outgoing money movement transactions.
What you’ll do
Responsibilities
- Become a domain expert in an area of Stripe’s payments stack
- Find automated solutions and implement tool updates to drive operational efficiencies
- Engage with Stripe's financial partners to drive alignment on product usage, troubleshoot and solve technical problems or breakages
- Organize and direct complex technical changes and projects between Stripe and our partners
- Identify and automate inefficient or unnecessary manual processes through code changes, partner agreements, or making and coordinating more complex code changes across Stripe
- Design future anomaly detection systems and tools to ensure that data flowing through our partner and internal systems is reliable and correct
- Collaborate across the company, including engineering, accounting, financial partnerships and product, to trace and account for billions of dollars moving through the Stripe platform
- Handle inquiries from internal Stripes and external partners' technical teams, often requiring detailed investigation and sometimes code changes
Who you are
We’re looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. If you meet these requirements, you are encouraged to apply. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.
Technical Operations roles are one part coding and one part managing projects. The ideal candidate will have experience in both, but successful candidates may index more highly in one or the other. We work mostly in Ruby and Java. However, languages can be learned: we care much more about your general coding skill than knowledge of a particular language or framework.
Minimum requirements
- 5+ years of experience in a technical role (ex: Technical Operations, Software Engineer, etc.)
- Have experience managing communications and workflows with technical and non-technical teams across internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to write high quality code. We work mostly in Ruby and Java. However, languages can be learned: we care much more about your general coding skill than knowledge of a particular language or framework
- Comfort using SQL to navigate Stripe's data and diagnose the scope and urgency of issues
- Be able to build operational processing and tooling from scratch to prevent repeatable issues
- Comfort with developer tools (e.g. git), and an ability to make well-scoped code changes in Stripe's codebase
- Great technical problem-solving skills, with an ability to develop a working understanding of a technical system using a variety of methods. These include (but aren't limited to): reading/writing code, reading documentation or partner specifications, running debugging programs, reading logs, asking well-formed questions to domain experts, or digging into the raw data through various interfaces
Preferred qualifications
- Knowledge of and experience with payment technologies and ecosystems
- Experience managing communications and workflows with external financial partners and vendors
Sr. Manager, Advised 401k Sales
About Betterment
Betterment is a leading, technology-driven financial services company that offers investing, savings and retirement solutions for retail investors and investment advisors as well as financial wellness solutions, including a 401(k) for small and medium-sized businesses. Our team is passionate about our mission, to empower people to build wealth with confidence and ease. We’re headquartered in NYC and offer hybrid NY-based positions (four days/ week in-office, with no required office days during the summer and winter holidays).
About the Role
- We're looking for an experienced sales manager to lead our Advised channel team, which sells Betterment at Work's 401(k) offering through financial advisors
- This role owns the team's pipeline quality, forecast accuracy, and rep development, and reports into the Head of Sales.
- You'll manage a team of Account Executives and work closely with a Team Lead already in place, taking on quota accountability, coaching, and channel strategy for a business going through real growth and structural change.
- You'll partner with Business Development to build out playbooks, processes, and feedback loops for how large advisor partnerships get established, activated, and grown, shaping how the two teams work together as that motion scales.
- This is a high-visibility role. The Advised channel is central to Betterment at Work's competitive position in the market, and you'll have direct input into pricing, product priorities, and partner strategy.
This role is based out of our NYC office. Actual salaries may vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed below is just one component of Betterment’s total compensation package for employees.
Target OTE between $240,000 - $280,000
A Day in the Life:
- Run pipeline reviews with AEs, holding deals to qualification standards
- Coach reps on how to work through financial advisors and RIAs, including how to build advisor trust and navigate multi-stakeholder sales cycles
- Manage target account list (TAL) coverage across the team, prioritizing high-value advisors and firms and holding reps accountable to activity standards
- Join advisor calls to coach live on positioning, pricing conversations, and objection handling
- Own forecast accuracy for the channel, rolling up individual rep calls into a number leadership can rely on
- Review win/loss data and deal velocity to find where the team is losing deals or losing time, and adjust coaching or process accordingly
- Run QBRs with the team, using performance data to set priorities for the next quarter
- Manage rep development day to day, from ramping new hires to addressing underperformance directly and early
- Work with Business Development to define and refine the playbook for large advisor partnerships: what qualifies a firm, how it gets activated, and what good coverage looks like once it's live
- Build feedback loops between your team and Business Development so learnings from the field (what's working with advisors, where deals stall, what firms are asking for) shape how BD sources and prioritizes future partnerships
- Review process gaps with Business Development as the large advisor partnership motion matures, adjusting ownership, handoffs, and definitions as needed rather than treating the current process as fixed
- Partner with the Head of Sales on channel strategy, comp structure, and product gaps that affect the Advised business
What We’re Looking For:
- 3+ years managing a quota-carrying B2B sales team, ideally in a channel or partner-driven model where deals move through a third party rather than direct
- Experience selling into or through financial advisors, RIAs, or broker-dealers strongly preferred
- A track record of improving win rates or pipeline quality through coaching and process, not just growing headcount
- Comfortable with data: can read a pipeline dashboard, knows what qualification criteria and forecast categories actually mean, and uses both to hold the team accountable
- Background in retirement, 401(k), fintech, or financial services preferred
- Direct communication style. Gives reps clear, honest feedback and holds them accountable without micromanaging
- Experience building or running sales playbooks, QBR structures, or account planning frameworks
- Has managed a team through market disruption (competitor M&A, new entrant, pricing shift) and adjusted strategy accordingly
- Experience building or refining cross-functional processes from scratch, not just operating inside an existing one
- Comfortable being a process owner on your side of a two-team motion, where playbooks and definitions will change as the partnership channel matures
