You’ll build, test, and deploy scalable backend microservices and RESTful APIs on Java/Kotlin and AWS, champion automated testing and phased rollouts, monitor service health with Datadog/CloudWatch, and participate in on‑call rotations to keep the Toast Connect platform running.
2+ years of professional backend development in Kotlin, Java or a similar OOP language, with experience building RESTful APIs, distributed systems, relational databases (PostgreSQL/MySQL), and cloud services (AWS) plus familiarity with messaging (Kafka, Pulsar, SQS/SNS).
The role powers Toast Connect, the backbone that lets external partners and internal teams share data and integrate via APIs, enabling the company to scale its restaurant SaaS platform for enterprise customers.
