About this role

This is Adyen

Adyen provides payments, data, and financial products in a single solution for customers like Meta, Uber, H&M, and Microsoft - making us the financial technology platform of choice. At Adyen, everything we do is engineered for ambition.

For our teams, we create an environment with opportunities for our people to succeed, backed by the culture and support to ensure they are enabled to truly own their careers. We are motivated individuals who tackle unique technical challenges at scale and solve them as a team. Together, we deliver innovative and ethical solutions that help businesses achieve their ambitions faster.

Senior Product Manager - Domestic Card Schemes

Payments in EMEA is where local meets global. As a Senior Product Manager in the EMEA payments team, you will shape how leading merchants get paid across the region, through the payment methods their shoppers actually prefer.

Your primary focus is our domestic card schemes: the local alternatives to Visa and Mastercard that are cheaper and, in several markets, perform better, which makes them a real reason for merchants to choose and stay with us. Beyond that, you will step up on team-wide, strategic payments topics that cut across payment methods, where a senior product manager sets direction instead of following it.

The schemes are live and performing well. The key challenge will be around adoption and keep further innovating with payment developments, while the wider team takes on new challenges that need strong product leadership.

What you'll do

  • Set strategy and roadmap: Define the vision and roadmap for the domestic card schemes and help shape the wider payment method portfolio, weighing merchant demand, margin, support load and market deadlines. We expect you to make clear trade-offs.
  • Own scheme and partner relationships: Manage roadmap alignment, specification updates and escalations with scheme operators and partners.
  • Drive delivery: Write clear product requirements and work with engineering on connections, tokenisation, Tap to Pay and authentication flows. Deliver time-critical launches with a clear plan, owners and risk log.
  • Step up on team-wide initiatives: Take the lead on strategic, cross-payment-method topics as the team's priorities evolve, and bring them from idea to launch.
  • Make the commercial case and measure it: Work with sales, account management and pricing on how local schemes compare with global ones. Define success metrics such as authorisation rate, cost and adoption, and review them regularly.
  • Lead through influence: Align engineering, in-person payments, e-commerce payments, partner engineering, partnerships and operations, and bring trade-offs to leadership early.

Who you are

  • 8+ years of product management experience in payments or fintech.
  • A strong understanding of card processing and how schemes, acquirers, hosts and terminals fit together.
  • Technical credibility: you can read API and message specifications (ISO 8583 or similar), discuss architecture with engineers and judge effort and risk without a translator.
  • Strategic thinking: you turn open-ended questions into a clear direction and roadmap, and you are excited to take on topics beyond your core area.
  • Strong stakeholder skills with external partners and schemes, and the judgment to say no and set expectations.
  • A commercial and data-driven mindset: you can explain the margin, performance and cost effects of a product decision and measure the result.
  • Proven ability to lead through influence, across many workstreams, markets and time zones.
  • Clear written communication, including product requirement documents that engineers and agents can act on.
