About this role

This is Adyen

Adyen provides payments, data, and financial products in a single solution for customers like Meta, Uber, H&M, and Microsoft - making us the financial technology platform of choice. At Adyen, everything we do is engineered for ambition.

For our teams, we create an environment with opportunities for our people to succeed, backed by the culture and support to ensure they are enabled to truly own their careers. We are motivated individuals who tackle unique technical challenges at scale and solve them as a team. Together, we deliver innovative and ethical solutions that help businesses achieve their ambitions faster.

About the team

The bigger the ambition, the clearer the story needs to be. Adyen’s next chapter is an exciting one, and we’re looking for a Senior Corporate Communications Manager to help shape how we tell it. You’ll turn our strategy into stories that journalists, investors and customers understand, build relationships with global media, and act as a trusted adviser to our leadership.

This role comes with ownership and the freedom to make an impact. We expect you to identify what needs to happen, bring the right people together, and take it through to delivery. You’re comfortable using sound judgement to move work forward, and you know when to bring in others to make the outcome stronger.

You’ll join our Corporate Communications team in Amsterdam and work closely with colleagues across functions and regions. At Adyen, we work as a team: we share ideas early, challenge each other directly and contribute wherever we can make the biggest difference. International experience is essential. You understand how perspectives differ across markets and know how to build one global story that works locally.

What you’ll do

  • Shape our corporate narrative. Translate our strategy into a clear, compelling story for journalists, investors and customers, and make every word count. You’ll help audiences understand our long-term ambition, business performance and strategic choices, and shape the press releases, statements, executive talking points, op-eds and Q&As that carry that story, so our communications are clear, consistent and right for the context.
  • Lead global media engagement. Build relationships with business, financial and technology journalists across markets. Identify stories worth telling, set the proactive agenda, and handle incoming questions with speed and sound judgment.
  • Own major announcements. Lead communications for financial results, executive appointments and other business milestones. Bring together colleagues across Finance, Legal, Investor Relations, PR, Product and regional teams to deliver clear, coordinated communications.
  • Advise our leadership. Bring a clear point of view and challenge constructively. You’ll shape how our Board and executives are positioned externally, and prepare them for interviews, keynotes and difficult questions.
  • Look around corners. Spot reputational risks early, understand how they play out across markets, and help the business respond with clarity and confidence.
  • Partner closely with Internal Communications. Align external and employee communications so Adyen teams understand our direction and have the context behind major announcements.
  • Partner closely with Investor Relations. Provide communications counsel around financial results, investor milestones and strategic announcements, helping anticipate external questions and ensure our messaging is clear, consistent and in line with our corporate positioning.
  • Make the team stronger. Share knowledge, give and seek direct feedback, and support colleagues beyond your own responsibilities. Help us improve how we prioritize, work together and measure our impact.

Who you are

  • An experienced communications professional. You bring 10+ years in corporate communications, PR or journalism, including time at a global listed company or an agency advising similar businesses.
  • International experience. You’ve worked for international companies and are comfortable collaborating with colleagues across markets and cultures.
  • Someone who takes ownership. You turn broad business priorities into action without waiting for a detailed brief or step-by-step direction. You set priorities, make decisions and follow through, bringing others in where their expertise is needed.
  • A team player. You put the best outcome for the business ahead of individual credit. You share work early, welcome different perspectives, and are willing to rethink your approach when a colleague has a better idea.
  • A credible adviser. You’ve earned the trust of senior leaders through sound judgment and honest advice. You’re comfortable challenging a point of view, regardless of who is in the room.
  • A clear thinker and storyteller. You get to the heart of complex topics, from banking licences to platform technology, and explain why they matter without losing accuracy.
  • Experienced in media relations. You have experience as a company spokesperson and bring strong relationships with business, financial and technology journalists as well as a track record of building a corporate reputation across markets.
  • Comfortable with financial communications. You understand the demands of a listed company and how to work with Investor Relations, Legal and Finance on sensitive information and regulatory matters.
  • Decisive when things are unclear. You stay calm under pressure, make considered calls with incomplete information, and know when to seek another perspective or escalate.
  • An excellent writer who stays close to the work. You’re native English, with sharp editorial judgment. You’re as comfortable writing the first draft and handling a media enquiry as you are advising on strategy.

Our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion commitments

Our unique approach is a product of our diverse perspectives. This diversity of backgrounds and cultures is essential in helping us maintain our momentum. Our business and technical challenges are unique, and we need as many different voices as possible to join us in solving them - voices like yours. No matter who you are or where you’re from, we welcome you to be your true self at Adyen.

Studies show that women and members of underrepresented communities apply for jobs only if they meet 100% of the qualifications. Does this sound like you? If so, Adyen encourages you to reconsider and apply. We look forward to your application!

What’s next?

Ensuring a smooth and enjoyable candidate experience is critical for us. We aim to get back to you regarding your application within 5 business days. Our interview process tends to take about 4 weeks to complete, but may fluctuate depending on the role. Learn more about our hiring process here. Don’t be afraid to let us know if you need more flexibility.

This role is based out of our Amsterdam office. We are an office-first company and value in-person collaboration; we do not offer remote-only roles.
