What you'll own

You’ll own the end‑to‑end supplier contracting workflow – fielding DRI questions, reviewing use cases, assembling templates, negotiating terms, and managing contracts through Stripe’s Zip and Ironclad systems.

What they're looking for

8 + years of contracting experience in procurement or legal operations, strong commercial‑legal acumen, and proven negotiation skills. Must be detail‑oriented, solution‑focused, and an effective communicator across multiple stakeholders.

Why this role matters

The role accelerates Stripe’s ability to engage key suppliers while minimizing risk, keeping the broader Procurement team’s mission of fast, structured deal execution on track.

Best suited to

A seasoned contract professional who thrives in high‑volume, fast‑paced environments, enjoys building best‑practice processes, and can quickly earn trust with legal, sourcing, and business partners.

About this role

Who we are

About Stripe

Stripe is a financial infrastructure platform for businesses. Millions of companies—from the world’s largest enterprises to the most ambitious startups—use Stripe to accept payments, grow their revenue, and accelerate new business opportunities. Our mission is to increase the GDP of the internet, and we have a staggering amount of work ahead. That means you have an unprecedented opportunity to put the global economy within everyone’s reach while doing the most important work of your career.

About the team

The Procurement team provides services to the businesses that are the backbone of Stripe. Stripe’s broader Procurement organization consists of Third Party Risk, Strategic Sourcing, Supplier Deal Management (Procurement Contracting), Procurement Enablement, Accounts Payable, and Travel and Expense.

Our Procurement Contracting function, Supplier Deal Management (SDM), builds an efficient supplier contracting process, reduces friction for business leaders, works in partnership with Third Party Risk and Legal to minimize risk, and increases the speed at which Stripe can engage key suppliers.

SDM’s mission is to drive agreements efficiently through appropriate channels, bringing structure to the overall contracting process in partnership with stakeholders while providing a customized and guided user experience and effectively managing value and risk for Stripe.

What you’ll do

Reporting to the Head of SDM and working closely with SDM Leads, you’ll support the supplier contracting process, from answering initial questions and reviewing use cases to negotiating commercial terms and supporting contract lifecycle management.

Responsibilities

  • Answer initial questions and educate directly responsible individuals (DRIs) on the overall risk assessment and supplier contracting process
  • Conduct an initial review of DRI-provided use cases and appropriate contractual terms, or assemble appropriate Stripe templates, and prepare agreements for legal review according to defined guidelines when necessary
  • Review and negotiate commercial terms in supplier agreements when needed
  • Monitor productivity and communication with DRIs using our procurement tool, Zip
  • Engage internal stakeholders, including Legal, Sourcing, Third Party Risk, and Stripe DRIs, to understand their needs and translate them into a risk-balanced approach to preparing contracts using training and existing frameworks
  • Manage engagements within our procurement system, Zip, and contract lifecycle management system, Ironclad, and support end-to-end contract lifecycle management
  • Partner with respective internal teams to resolve business inquiries and troubleshoot issues related to contracting

Who you are

We're looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. If you meet these requirements, you are encouraged to apply. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.

Minimum requirements

  • 8 years of professional experience in contracting within procurement, legal operations, or another commercial deal negotiation capacity
  • Demonstrated ability to understand commercial and legal language commonly used in commercial contracts, ease in reviewing and drafting contractual language, and experience negotiating contracts and partnering effectively with legal teams
  • A solution-oriented mindset with enthusiasm for establishing contracting best practices, the ability to earn trust quickly and deliver value for a critical, fast-paced function involving multiple stakeholders, and the ability to support opinions with sound reasoning
  • Flexibility and comfort with changing requirements in a high-volume environment, meticulous attention to detail, and a rigorous decision-making process
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to represent Stripe effectively when interacting with stakeholders

Preferred qualifications

  • Broad contracting experience across a range of common categories, such as technology, marketing, workplace, and services
  • Understanding of or experience with e-procurement tools and contract lifecycle management systems, such as Zip and Ironclad
  • Familiarity with the fintech industry and its supply chain and procurement challenges
  • A builder’s mindset and a willingness to question assumptions and conventional wisdom
