One Employer, 17.5% of the Roles: What Finjobsly's Fintech Job Data Looks Like Without Stripe

Stripe is 736 of the 4,200 active roles in Finjobsly's fintech panel (17.5%, snapshot of 27 October 2026), and removing it changes the picture. Payments skills fall from 46.8% of roles to 36.3%, while compliance rises from 26.6% to 28.5% and the share of ads showing pay rises from 36.1% to 43.0%.

Key findings

  • Finjobsly observed (27 October 2026): 4,200 active roles across 36 employers, with Stripe at 736 (17.5%).
  • Finjobsly observed: the three largest employers (Stripe, Toast, Brex) hold 31.9% of roles. The eight largest hold 57.4%.
  • Finjobsly observed: Payments appears in 46.8% of roles, or 36.3% excluding Stripe. Go falls from 23.6% to 20.4%.
  • Finjobsly observed: Compliance rises from 26.6% to 28.5% without Stripe, and Python from 17.1% to 18.1%.
  • Finjobsly observed: 43.0% of non-Stripe roles show a pay range, against 36.1% across the full panel.

How concentrated is Finjobsly's fintech job data?

More than most readers would guess. The panel tracks 36 employers, but hiring is uneven. Stripe has 736 active roles, Toast 342 and Brex 266. Those three make up 31.9% of the 4,200 roles. Add Adyen (247), Coinbase (223), Affirm (222), Block (204) and Ramp (173), and the eight largest employers account for 57.4%.

Adding a few small employers would not fix this. It reflects how hiring actually looks at large fintechs, and the panel follows the employers that publish the most jobs. It does mean that any percentage built from all active roles leans toward the biggest employers.

What changes when Stripe is excluded?

We re-ran the skills count on the 3,464 roles that are not at Stripe. The table compares the share of roles that name each skill with and without Stripe.

SkillAll 4,200 rolesExcluding Stripe (3,464)
Payments46.8%36.3%
Compliance26.6%28.5%
Go23.6%20.4%
Python17.1%18.1%
SQL14.5%13.4%
Salesforce13.3%14.9%
REST11.9%14.1%
Fraud9.3%8.1%

The ordering at the top holds: Payments and Compliance are the two most common skills either way. What moves is the size of the lead. Payments is far less dominant once one employer is removed, and Compliance is closer to Payments than the headline suggests.

Why does Stripe pull Payments and Go upward?

Stripe's roles name Payments and Go more often than the rest of the panel does, so a large block of Stripe roles lifts both figures. That is a statement about Stripe's ads, not a finding that Go is losing ground elsewhere. Go still appears in about one role in five without Stripe.

Skills like Python, Salesforce and REST edge up when Stripe is removed because their denominator shrinks and Stripe names them less often than other employers do. None of these shifts is large, but together they show why a skills ranking should always carry the employer mix behind it.

What this means for how you read fintech job data

Treat any single percentage from a job panel as a description of that panel. Ask how many employers are included, how big the largest one is, and whether the number survives without it. Where it does, you can lean on it. Where it does not, the figure is mostly about one company.

For job seekers, the practical point is that the "most in-demand skill" on a list may be most in demand at one employer. Our most in-demand fintech skills piece and the analysis of skills that appear together are good starting points, and the list of fintechs hiring the most shows the employer mix directly. Frequently asked questions

How much of Finjobsly's data comes from Stripe?

Stripe has 736 of 4,200 active roles (17.5%) in the 27 October 2026 snapshot.

Does removing Stripe change the most common fintech skills?

The top two stay the same: Payments (36.3% without Stripe) and Compliance (28.5%). Payments loses about 10 percentage points and Compliance gains about 2.

Is Go still a top fintech skill without Stripe?

Yes. Go appears in 20.4% of non-Stripe roles, down from 23.6% across all roles, and it stays third.

Why not just remove Stripe from all Finjobsly articles?

Stripe is a real part of the fintech job market, and excluding it would understate the demand it creates. We keep it in and show the effect of removing it where the figure is sensitive.

Does this mean Finjobsly covers the whole market?

No. The panel covers 36 tracked employers. Figures describe those employers on the snapshot date.

Methodology and data sources

Data snapshot. Finjobsly live job market data, 27 October 2026: 4,200 active roles at 36 tracked employers, 3,464 of them outside Stripe. Skill shares are the number of roles whose skill tags include the skill, divided by the stated total. A role can name several skills.

Limits. Skill tags come from job ads and reflect how each employer writes its listings. Employer concentration is described for this panel only. We make no trend claims, because Finjobsly connected its scrapers in July 2026. See the research methodology for details.
