About this role

This is Adyen

Adyen provides payments, data, and financial products in a single solution for customers like Meta, Uber, H&M, and Microsoft - making us the financial technology platform of choice. At Adyen, everything we do is engineered for ambition.

For our teams, we create an environment with opportunities for our people to succeed, backed by the culture and support to ensure they are enabled to truly own their careers. We are motivated individuals who tackle unique technical challenges at scale and solve them as a team. Together, we deliver innovative and ethical solutions that help businesses achieve their ambitions faster.

The Role

We’re looking for a Senior Internal Communications Manager, based in San Francisco, to join our global Internal Communications team.

As the Internal Communications team, our ambition is to help Adyen move fast and stay aligned - by making strategy clear, connection meaningful, and culture scalable. We do this by ensuring teams across the company understand where we’re going, why it matters, and how they fit into the bigger picture.

We’re looking for someone who knows how to turn complex topics into clear, engaging stories - and who has done this at scale, ideally in a fast-paced tech environment.

This role holds dual responsibilities & you will need to flex equally between both:

  • Regional scope: You will own key internal communications for North America end-to-end, serving as the strategic comms lead who makes the moments that matter (milestones, launches, leadership moments, and cultural touchpoints) land for thousands of colleagues across the region.

  • Global scope: You will lead high-profile, company-wide initiatives that reach every Adyen employee globally.

You'll report to our Head of Internal Communications, who is based in Amsterdam. You'll have comms colleagues in North America, but they cover different remits, for NA internal comms, you are the owner. In practice that means real autonomy: you'll set your own priorities against agreed goals, and you'll make the day-to-day judgment calls yourself. You will work with a few hours of daily overlap with Amsterdam, backed by a regular rhythm of 1:1s and team syncs. We are looking for someone who is energized by independence and thrives operating across time zones.

What You’ll Achieve

  • Help shape and scale Adyen's global internal communications strategy as we enter our next phase of growth.
  • Own Adyen's key North America internal communications milestones end to end - strategy, narrative, format, delivery and measurement - and act as the internal communications partner for the region, working with NA leaders to sharpen how they communicate and engage their teams.
  • Own global internal communications projects end to end, partnering with leaders and teams around the world to land company-wide messages that reach every Adyen employee.
  • Create content and experiences that bring our priorities to life through events (including narratives), comms campaigns, video, and written content.
  • Put the right processes, tools, and channels in place to drive dialogue and engagement, not just information sharing.
  • Use data and feedback to understand what's working, what's not, and continuously raise the bar for internal communications at Adyen.

Who You Are

  • You have 10+ years of relevant experience in internal communications, ideally in a high-growth environment.
  • You've owned a region or a comparable scope and led company-wide projects: you can point to something global you owned rather than supported.
  • You're an excellent communicator with strong written and verbal English skills, a clear talent for storytelling, and experience designing internal events and moments from the narrative through to the room.
  • You work well with distance: a self-starter who takes ownership without close oversight, communicates proactively in writing, and is comfortable being the person in the room when your manager and most of your team are not. You're happy to flex your hours for European overlap and to travel occasionally.
  • You thrive in fast-growing organizations: you drive projects end to end, manage a wide range of stakeholders with ease, and are comfortable navigating ambiguity and complex topics.
  • You're curious, creative and data-driven, you use insights and metrics to inform decisions, and you're always looking for new ways to communicate, sharpen ideas, and test new things.

Our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion commitments

Our unobvious approach is a product of our diverse perspectives. This diversity of backgrounds, cultures, and perspectives is essential in helping us maintain our momentum. Our business and technical challenges are unique, we need as many different voices as possible to join us in solving them – voices like yours. So no matter where you’re from, who you love, or what you believe in, we welcome you to be your true self at Adyen.

Studies show that women and members of underrepresented communities apply for jobs only if they meet 100% of the qualifications. Does it sound like you? If so, Adyen encourages you to reconsider and apply. We look forward to your application.

What’s next?

Ensuring a smooth and enjoyable candidate experience is critical for us. We aim to get back to you regarding your application within 3 business days. Our interview process tends to take between 3 or 4 weeks to complete. Don’t be afraid to let us know if you need more flexibility.
