What you'll own

Own the end‑to‑end accounting for new treasury products and services under US GAAP and IFRS, including documenting accounting positions, supporting product implementation, and communicating the accounting treatment to stakeholders and auditors.

What they're looking for

A professional with ACA/ACCA/CPA (or equivalent) certification, deep US GAAP/IFRS knowledge, proven experience in technical accounting and implementation projects, strong independent judgment, and excellent collaborative and communication skills.

Why this role matters

Accurate accounting of Wise’s expanding product suite is essential for regulatory compliance and reliable financial reporting, enabling the finance team to navigate a critical transformation and support the company’s global money‑movement mission.

Best suited to

Senior accountants who thrive in fast‑moving fintech or financial‑services environments, enjoy cross‑functional influence, and are comfortable taking ownership of complex, new accounting areas with minimal guidance.

About this role

Company Description

Wise is a global technology company, building the best way to move and manage the world’s money.

Min fees. Max ease. Full speed.

Whether people and businesses are sending money to another country, spending abroad, or making and receiving international payments, Wise is on a mission to make their lives easier and save them money.

As part of our team, you will be helping us create an entirely new network for the world's money.

For everyone, everywhere.

More about our mission and what we offer.

The opportunity

Join our FINANCE team and help navigate us through a critical transformation

The Finance team is critical in supporting the Wise mission. We are listed in the US, and now are on a journey to create a mature technical accounting team to tackle complex challenges and ensure compliance with respective regulatory requirements.

We’re looking for a SENIOR TECHNICAL ACCOUNTING MANAGER to join us on a FTC basis.

As a Senior Technical Accounting Manager in the Finance team, you will contribute to our mission by ensuring the accounting for our new products and services in the financial systems is accurate and complete and in accordance with US GAAP and IFRS to meet our reporting needs.

Your mission

  • Ownership of accounting under US GAAP and IFRS: You will be responsible for understanding the why and how of different treasury products, but also wider accounting areas. This includes understanding the products, documenting accounting position papers, supporting the implementation of the products, and explaining the accounting to non-Finance stakeholders and to external auditors.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to embed accounting into the business not just into the books: You will collaborate with different teams in Finance and Wise to advise on the accounting for new treasury products and services under US GAAP and IFRS ensuring the processes are set up and and accounting policies updated to reflect it.

About you

  • Theory – strong knowledge in respect of accounting under US GAAP and IFRS. Professional finance qualification such as the ACA, ACCA, CPA or equivalent.
  • Practice – You have prior experience tackling technical accounting, and have managed accounting implementation projects and demonstrated resilience to break through and overcome challenges.
  • Ownership – You work independently, assume responsibility and make your own judgements. Be prepared to take ownership over complex new areas and solve problems with minimal guidance.
  • Adaptable - You are able to adapt and re-prioritise tasks to meet changing requirements of the business and stakeholders.
  • Love getting things done – You are not afraid to roll up your sleeves and take responsibility to do whatever needs doing to solve problems.
  • Collaborative and influencing skills – You work well in an international team environment, and know how to have an impact through others. You have partnered with internal and external stakeholders and have strong communication skills.
  • Development – You are keen to learn and develop your knowledge of how a FinTech and fast growing scale-up operates.

Nice to have

  • Experience in a US listed company
  • Experience implementing new products
  • Financial services/fintech industry exposure

Additional Information

We're proud to have a truly international team, and we celebrate our differences.

Inclusive teams help us live our values and make sure every Wiser feels respected, empowered to contribute towards our mission and able to progress in their careers.
