What you'll own

Lead technical discovery with prospective and existing partners, turn findings into clear solution designs using GoCardless APIs, and build demos or proofs of concept. Guide partners through integration, testing, and launch, and create assets such as guides, sample code, Postman collections, and integration checklists.

What they're looking for

Experience as a pre‑sales, post‑sales or implementation engineer working directly with customers or partners, strong hands‑on API skills (Postman, log reading, debugging) and knowledge of OAuth, webhooks and common integration patterns. Proficiency in at least one programming language and a solid understanding of how APIs and MCP servers work.

Why this role matters

Partners are a major source of GoCardless’s reach, so enabling them to integrate bank payments smoothly and quickly helps the company expand its footprint. The role ensures partners move from discovery to live launch with confidence, supporting overall growth.

Best suited to

Problem‑solvers who enjoy digging into technical detail, are curious learners, and take a consultative approach. Candidates who get a kick out of helping partners grow and building new integrations.

About this role

About us

GoCardless, a Mollie company, is a global leader in bank payments. Over 100,000 businesses, from start-ups to household names, use GoCardless to collect, manage and send bank payments through Direct Debit, real-time payments and open banking. With US$130bn+ processed annually across 30+ countries, we handle recurring and one-off payments without the chasing, stress, or expensive fees. Our end-to-end payment platform also features AI-powered solutions to improve payment success and reduce fraud, alongside connections to over 350 platforms businesses use everyday.

We are headquartered in the UK, with teams and operations spanning North America, Europe and Asia-Pacific.  For more information, please visit www.gocardless.com and follow us on LinkedIn @GoCardless.

Mollie is the leading payments and financial services partner for business, rooted in Europe, with global reach.

The role

A large share of our reach comes through partners: payment service providers, software platforms and ecosystems that offer bank payments to their own customers. As Partner Solutions Engineer, you’ll be the technical lead on those relationships, from the first conversation through to a live integration and beyond.

You’ll work alongside our Partnerships team to qualify opportunities, run technical discovery, design the integration and get the partner live. You’ll be the person a partner’s engineers trust when something misbehaves in the sandbox, and the person who can explain to their commercial team why a design choice matters.

Your Day-to-day Will Focus On

  • Lead technical discovery with prospective and existing partners and turn it into a clear solution design using our various partner APIs such as Embed & Connect
  • Build and deliver demos and proofs of concept that show how bank payments work inside the partner’s product
  • Guide partners through integration, testing and launch, including webhooks, failure handling and go-live readiness
  • Work with Partnerships to qualify, shape and close partner opportunities
  • Build the assets that make the next integration faster, e.g. guides, sample code, Postman collections and integration checklists
  • Keep us ahead of how partners use our APIs with newer tooling, including MCP and agentic commerce

What you’ll bring

Essential:

  • Experience as a pre-sales, post-sales or implementation engineer working directly with customers or partners
  • Hands-on API experience: you’re comfortable in Postman, reading logs and debugging a failing request
  • Working knowledge of OAuth, webhooks and common integration patterns
  • Programming skills in at least one common language
  • A solid understanding of how APIs and MCP servers work

A Real Advantage:

  • Experience building integrations with payment service providers or platforms
  • Knowledge of payments, eg. Direct Debit, open banking, cards and alternative payment methods
  • Experience working with platforms or multi-tenant models
  • Day-to-day use of AI tools in your own engineering work

You’ll probably enjoy this role if

  • You’re a problem solver who likes getting stuck into the detail
  • You’re curious and learn new systems quickly
  • You like being consultative, asking good questions before proposing answers
  • You get a kick out of helping partners grow and build something new

Base salary range: £62,400.00 – £93,600.00 + 30% OTE

Base salary ranges are based on role, job level, location, and market data.  Please note that whilst we strive to offer competitive compensation, our approach is to pay between the minimum and the mid-point of the pay range until performance can be assessed in role. Offers will take into account level of experience, interview assessment, budgets and parity between you and fellow employees at GoCardless doing similar work.
