Optimization Manager

Adyen is seeking a strategic and analytical Optimization Manager to join our Performance Optimization team in Amsterdam. In this role, you will be responsible for managing full-funnel payment performance to drive tangible business impact and optimize merchant success at scale.

You will act as a key partner to our merchants, leveraging data-driven insights to enhance their payment ecosystems. Success in this position requires a blend of excellent project management skills and the ability to collaborate seamlessly with cross-functional teams, including Product, Commercial, and Data Analytics, within a fast-paced and global environment.

The ideal candidate possesses deep payments expertise, a strong focus on risk and fraud prevention, and the ability to translate complex technical findings into clear, actionable recommendations for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

What you'll do

  • Partner with commercial teams to drive Adyen’s value proposition and merchant adoption, using data-driven insights (with Data Analysts) to strengthen conversations
  • Lead high-level customer discussions, enable commercial teams with tools/trainings, and act as a payment optimization SME across risk, fraud, conversion, and cost efficiency
  • Analyze merchant portfolios and payment data to identify optimization opportunities, run playbooks, and drive performance and risk improvements
  • Identify and support adoption of Adyen products (e.g. Protect, Uplift) in collaboration with Product teams
  • Build dashboards/tools and scalable analytical solutions from large datasets to generate actionable insights
  • Operate with autonomy and a global, strategic perspective across high-value customers and cross-functional teams
  • Support team operations, mentor team members, and build strong relationships with regional customers and stakeholders

Who you are

  • 5+ years’ experience in Risk & Fraud, Payments Performance, Data Analytics, Technical Account roles, or similar within fintech/payments, with strong understanding of regional payments landscape (card network rules, regulations, risk considerations)
  • Good stakeholder management across customers and cross-functional teams, with an ownership mindset and ability to prioritize and execute independently
  • Comfortable working in fast-paced, global, cross-functional environments with a continuous improvement mindset
  • Strong data analysis skills with experience handling complex datasets; BI tools (e.g. Looker, Tableau) is a plus
  • Excellent communication skills in English, able to simplify complex topics for both technical and non-technical audiences
