About this role

We believe that the way people interact with their finances will drastically improve in the next few years. We’re dedicated to empowering this transformation by building the tools and experiences that thousands of developers use to create their own products. Plaid powers the tools millions of people rely on to live a healthier financial life. We work with thousands of companies like Venmo, SoFi, several of the Fortune 500, and many of the largest banks to make it easy for people to connect their financial accounts to the apps and services they want to use. Plaid’s network covers 12,000 financial institutions across the US, Canada, UK and Europe. Founded in 2013, the company is headquartered in San Francisco with offices in New York, Seattle, Washington D.C., Raleigh, London, and Amsterdam.

Plaid’s Executive Assistant (EA) team sits within the People Team and partners closely with the company’s most senior leaders. Our EAs are trusted, strategic partners who help leaders stay focused on their highest-impact work—from managing complex calendars and preparing for critical meetings to coordinating Board logistics, leadership offsites, customer dinners, and company-wide events. We operate as one connected team, sharing best practices, supporting one another, and exploring new technology and AI-enabled approaches to make the way we work faster, smarter, and more effective.

As the EA Team Lead, you’ll lead and develop a team of EAs who support senior leaders across Plaid, while also directly supporting one of our C-Suite executives. You’ll set clear standards, bring consistency and best practices to high-impact areas such as leadership rhythms, onsite planning, and company events, and serve as a trusted partner to executives and People Team leaders. You’ll also help evolve and scale the function through new approaches to technology, AI, and automation.

What you'll do

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of EAs through regular 1:1s, candid feedback, goal setting, and career development.
  • Provide direct support for one C-Suite Executive and back up coverage as needed.
  • Set the vision and operating standards for the EA program, including onboarding, role expectations, coverage, and ways of working.
  • Build scalable playbooks, templates, and repeatable approaches for leadership meetings, onsite planning, All Hands, company events, and other high-impact programs.
  • Foster a connected EA community through shared practices, knowledge sharing, and thoughtful coverage across the team.
  • Partner with executives and their EAs to understand priorities, calibrate support, and ensure the right level of coverage.
  • Own hiring for the EA team, including defining the bar, partnering with Recruiting, and onboarding new hires.
  • Identify and implement efficiencies through technology, AI, and automation to improve how the team works.
  • Serve as an escalation point and thought partner for complex, sensitive, or cross-functional situations.
  • Partner with the People Team on programs and initiatives involving executive and leadership support.

What they're looking for

  • 8+ years of experience as an EA supporting C-suite executives in complex, fast-paced environments.
  • 3-5 years of experience leading, coaching, or managing EAs or administrative teams.
  • A track record of developing people, with the ability to give clear, direct feedback and help others grow.
  • Experience planning and running complex programs and events, such as leadership onsites, Board meetings, All Hands, and company events.
  • A strategic and operational mindset, with the ability to turn recurring work into scalable, repeatable systems.
  • Strong judgment and discretion when handling confidential and sensitive information.
  • Ability to build trust and influence senior leaders and cross-functional partners without relying on authority.
  • Builder mindset, with comfort using technology, AI, and automation to improve how work gets done.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Comfort operating at a fast pace, navigating shifting priorities, and working flexibly when the needs of the business require it.
