Role Description

As a GTM Compliance Analyst, you’ll help Plaid evaluate and onboard customers in a way that supports growth while protecting the company from regulatory and compliance risk.

You’ll review prospective and existing customer deals, assess customer business models and use cases, conduct risk-based diligence, and determine when additional conditions, approvals, or escalations are needed.

You’ll work closely with Sales, Account Management, Legal, Product, and Customer Oversight to translate complex requirements into practical guidance and keep deals moving.

You’ll also help build the playbooks, workflows, and reporting needed to make GTM compliance more consistent and scalable as Plaid expands into new products, customer segments, and regulated use cases.

What you'll do

  • Review prospective and existing customer deals for regulatory, licensing, policy risk, with a focus on the customer's business model, use case, product configuration, geography, and regulated activities.
  • Conduct onboarding and enhanced diligence for higher-risk customers or use cases, including gathering and evaluating relevant licenses, registrations, policies, ownership information, and other supporting documentation.
  • Partner with Sales, Account Management, Legal, Product, Risk Operations, and other stakeholders to identify compliance requirements, resolve open questions, and develop practical risk mitigations or approval conditions.
  • Document compliance decisions, rationale, conditions, and escalations in a clear and auditable manner.
  • Track open onboarding conditions, approvals, renewals, and other post-deal compliance obligations to ensure timely follow-through.
  • Support reviews of regulated or higher-risk segments, including gaming and other industries where licensing or jurisdiction-specific requirements may apply.
  • Research and interpret regulatory and licensing requirements relevant to customer activities, products, and markets, escalating novel or complex issues to subject-matter experts as appropriate.
  • Develop and maintain GTM compliance playbooks, risk-tiering frameworks, decision trees, intake requirements, and escalation paths.
  • Identify recurring deal or onboarding issues and partner with cross-functional teams to improve policies, controls, tooling, training, and customer-facing guidance.
  • Provide training and office-hours support to GTM teams so they understand when to engage Compliance and how to gather the information needed for efficient reviews.
  • Build reporting and metrics on review volume, turnaround times, risk themes, escalations, and outcomes to help Compliance and GTM leadership identify trends and prioritize improvements.

What they're looking for

  • 4–6 years of experience in Compliance, Legal, Risk, Operations, or a related function, preferably in fintech, financial services, payments, technology, or another regulated industry.
  • Experience conducting risk-based reviews (customer, partner, onboarding, or deal-level) and translating regulatory or policy requirements into clear, actionable guidance for business teams.
  • Strong judgment and analytical skills, including the ability to assess incomplete or ambiguous fact patterns, identify material compliance risks, and recommend practical mitigations.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain compliance requirements clearly to GTM stakeholders and document decisions for auditability.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with Sales, Account Management, Legal, Product, Customer Oversight, Operations, and other cross-functional partners.
  • Strong organizational and project-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple reviews, escalations, and deadlines at once.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment with evolving processes.

What they're looking for — preferred

  • Experience with customer onboarding, KYB/KYC, enhanced due diligence, restricted-business reviews, licensing analysis, third-party or partner risk, or deal-desk/commercial compliance.
  • Experience supporting higher-risk or regulated segments such as gaming, lending, crypto, payments, money transmission, marketplaces, or financial institutions.
  • Experience supporting compliance or licensing for regulated gaming businesses, including sports betting, iGaming, casino, DFS, ADW, or poker.
  • Familiarity with gaming regulatory frameworks and multi-jurisdictional licensing requirements.
  • Experience with gaming license applications, renewals, regulatory approvals, or customer diligence for licensed gaming operators, vendors, or service providers.
